Orbit

Orbit is the third piece in IMPRINT, a furniture collection inspired by the emotional traces left behind by memory—specifically, the lingering impact of a relationship. Orbit marks a pivotal shift: the beginning of emotional separation. The two main components—the pendant and base shade—are visually and materially distinct, yet mirror one another while remaining apart, symbolizing both connection and distance. The base shade, crafted from red oak and concrete, orbits the pendant light like a planet around the sun. The wood was angle-ground and burned to physically manifest the idea of an imprint and reflect how relationships leave their mark over time. The pendant projects a circle of light onto the circular concrete base, expanding this narrative of emotional imprint. There’s tension in this liminal space—in the separation between the forms, and in the way the curved wooden shade and concrete base echo the pendant's cylindrical form. Orbit captures the slow, quiet unraveling of closeness, suspended in a moment of connection and disconnection.
